HANOI FULLDAY CITY TOUR (B,L)

Today, you’ll immerse yourself in Hanoi’s rich history and vibrant culture. Begin at the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing monument lavishly built using marble and granite, where the embalmed body of “Uncle Ho” is at rest. Then continue to visit the Ho Chi Minh’s House. The simple house where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked is made of wood and enjoyed a tranquil setting, with a view of a lotus pond. A short walk from the mausoleum is the lotus shaped One Pillar Pagoda – resting on a single stone pillar emerging from the water. Inside is a statue of the Goddess of Mercy with its legendary “thousand arms and thousand eyes”.

After lunch, delve into Vietnam’s past at sites like the Ambassador’s Pagoda, the headquarters of the Vietnamese Buddhism Association since the 19th century. Explore the pagoda with your guide and then engage in a discussion at the meeting with a senior monk for insights into spiritual beliefs, Buddhist concepts, and Vietnam’s cultural connections.

End your day with a cyclo ride through the Old Quarter, exploring its bustling streets, narrow “tube houses,” and vibrant culture. Disembark at a local Bia Hoi, where you’ll enjoy fresh draft beer, snacks, and a chance to mingle with locals in a relaxed, authentic setting.

HO CHI MINH CITY – CU CHI TUNNELS (B,L)

After breakfast, take a scenic two-hour drive from Saigon to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a historical site used by the Viet Cong during the war. The tunnels served as hiding spots, communication routes, and living quarters. Upon arrival, explore the tunnels with a former Viet Cong veteran, gaining insights into life underground and the resilience of the fighters. The guide will translate the veteran’s experiences, offering a personal perspective on the war.

After lunch, explore the city historical charm and modern growth, where colonial buildings coexist with sleek boutiques. Begin your exploration at the Notre Dame Cathedral, a striking red-brick structure inspired by Paris’s original. Just across the square is the Central Post Office, designed by Gustave Eiffel before his famous tower.  We end the architectural highlights with a stroll through the bustling Ben Thanh Market.

Back to the hotel for relax and refreshments.

At 7:00pm, enjoy a private Vespa Street food tour through downtown Saigon. Begin with an orientation ride, passing famous sights, followed by a stop at a local café for a welcome drink. Throughout the night, explore local street food, including Banh Mi, Vietnamese pizza, and BBQ pork. A stop in a back-alley area offers a more authentic local experience. Visit popular snack spots and immerse yourself in the city’s lively food scene. Be sure to come hungry and ready for an adventurous evening.
