FULL-DAY HISTORIC TOUR TO DUONG LAM VILLAGE AND TRAIN STREET BY CAR
Tours Itinerary

Duong Lam Village Day Tour (Lunch cooked by the ancient house's owner and drinks at coffee shop in Duong Lam are included)
Scenic Countryside: The journey from Hanoi to Duong Lam takes you through Vietnam’s picturesque countryside, with views of lush rice paddies, winding rivers, and charming rural villages. It’s an opportunity to capture the natural beauty and tranquility of the region.
Cycling around the village to visit:
Traditional Architecture: Duong Lam is famous for its ancient houses built from laterite brick and wooden beams, some of which are centuries old. These timeless buildings create a nostalgic atmosphere, perfect for photography enthusiasts who wish to document authentic rural Vietnamese architecture.
Historic Sites: The village is home to notable historical landmarks, including Mong Phu Temple, dedicated to the village’s guardian deity, and Ngo Quyen Temple, which honors the hero who defeated foreign invaders and established Vietnamese independence. These peaceful temples provide beautiful settings for reflection and photography.
You will also have a chance to talk with the owner of Third Laureate Giang’s ancient house. The owner is the 13rd niece of Laureate Giang. Laureae Giang ranked third in the imperial exams. Giang Van Minh (1573–1638) was a renowned official during the Lê Trung Hưng period of Vietnam. He was born in Mong Phu village, Duong Lam commune (now part of Son Tay town, Hanoi). Known for his talent, integrity, and contributions to diplomacy, he is most famous for his mission to the Ming Dynasty in China. He had been executed to death by an emperor of the Ming Dynasty due to a counter-couplet that he used to respond the emperor.
Local Life: As you explore the winding lanes of Duong Lam, you’ll have the chance to observe local life up close. Villagers cook their signature meals (Pot Rice, Roasted Skewer Crispy Pork Belly, Fat Chicken, sweet ginger candies), artisans craft traditional goods, and village elders, who often share their wisdom with visitors, offer a warm welcome.
Fermented Soybean Paste Making: Tương Bần – a traditional fermented soybean paste from the Bần village in the Hung Yen province near Hanoi. This savory, umami-rich paste is made by fermenting soybeans with sticky rice and salt, giving it a distinct earthy aroma and tangy flavor. Often used as a condiment in northern Vietnamese dishes like Bánh Tôm, Gỏi cuốn (spring rolls), Bún chả, and steamed vegetables, it adds a deep, savory flavor similar to Japanese miso or Chinese doubanjiang but with a unique Vietnamese twist.
Photography Guidance: Your guide will assist you in capturing authentic moments during the tour, ensuring you take home stunning photos of Duong Lam’s rich history and vibrant culture.
Cycling around the village
Special: Your lunch will be carefully prepared by another 300-year-old ancient house owner, Mr. Hung, after paying a visit to his house (lunch is included). The lunch features Vietnam’s traditional cooking method such as roasted skewer pork belly, stir-fried fat chicken, and they also use fermented soy bean sauce (Duong Lam Village’s specialty) as a dressing for slow-cooked fish. They do have a delicious vegetarian often featuring traditional spring rolls, morning glory with pumpkin soup, and some other dishes.
